Dear Clifford:

¥ thenk you for your letter of racent date. I assure
you that your explanation is satisfactory and that I hold
no personal animus toward you for not showing up. I just
took it that you had too much on your hands at that time
and missed connections.

In this great age of strife and twmoil where so many
major catastrophies are happening I never hold these lapses
as important. I sppreciate your writing me. Mrs. Hulteen,
my secretary, told me that you had been in a number of times
and had missed me. You certainly have more than carried on
your share of apologies for your failure. |
