Iumediately upen receipt of your letter of the 16th instant
I checked your recerd in the Registrar's Office. We have been in the
midst of registration end onreoliment, and I regret very much that it
has bem impessible to write you earlier.

Dre Lawrence Woedruff, the Registrar, went back inte the
files and leeked up your recerd fer me. You matriculated at the Univ-
ersity on September 8, 1919, and there is ne record of your having
been at the University in 19q17 and 1918. Dr. Woodruff says that it
is net necessary fer you to have this te get inte the service. He

these two years. If yeu want mo te write a letter testifying that
I knew yeu when you were e student here, I will be tickled to death
te do it for you. Dr. Woodruff will also send a transcript ef your

sity if you desire. He is a geod friend of mine, a former foetball
player, a fine schelar and gentleman.
