I hope you got my message from the
Chancellor's office this morning.

I regret exceedingly that I was not
able to come to Lawrence, in accord-
ance with my promise over the telephone
this morning.

I am billed for a radio address at the
First Methodist Church services tomorrow
morning and by virtue of other develop-
ments at the office, simply will not be
able to take the time for the Chancellor's
dinner or to see the ball game.
