GEORGE M. ROBB, PRESIDENT E. D. MUSTOE, CLERK Rexford Consolidated Schouls JOINT DISTRICT NO. 88 SHELDON WINGERD, SUPERINTENDENT Rexford, Ransas Dec. 1, 1938 Dr Forrest C. Allen, 801 Louisiana Street, Lawrence, Kansas. Dear Dr. Allen, We have a boy from our school, Bill Wade, who is a Freshman at K.U. this fall, who should by all means be out for basketball. He is working his way partly thru school, and just now is tied down by a job which takes him thru the Supper period and has prevented him from reporting for practice. I am taking the liberty of sending him over to see you personally, in hope that you can iron out or have someone help him iron out his daily schedule so that he can make his appearance daily for Freshman Practice. Bill was an excellent boy in High School and should, with the good coaching he shoufld receive at K.U., continue a splendid athletic career. Bill went his Freshman year at Colby High School where he lettered in basketball and track. His last three years here were years in which he topped the surrounding territory in general basketball ability. Last year he was our captain and made around 200 points during the season. Our team played in four tournaments including the State Class B tournament at Salina. He will play his heart out for anyone he likes and he is fairly aching to get a crack at Freshman basketball at K.U. I shall ask Bob Raugh, Coach at Colby, to drop you a line relative to Bill, and I am sure that you will be doing the boy a good deed, if you will help him arrange his schedule so that he can compete.
