Dear Doc:

The books arrived, and I appreciate them very much. It
is a peach of a book, I may have occasion to give several
of them as gifts during the next year.

I stopped yesterday at lunch and mentioned to Arch Ward
that I had received a copy and had spent the night before
reading it. He promised that as soon as he had time to
look it over he would give it a write-up in the Tribune.

You're right - he's so wrapped up in Notre Dame it's aw-
fully hard to get him to boost anyone that doesn't come
from there, but I am sure he will take care of this soon.

Page two of your letter got me steamed up. I never will
forget that kick at Norman, Oklahoma, and I thoucht of
that game many times when fellow who is now 4 prominent
coach was trying to take Miller from me. This sort of
gratitude is hardly understandable among men.

The Woodys send the season's greetings and best wishes
to the Allens.
