As District Governor, I have been out of town quite a We are playing Iowa State on Saturday, October 6th. If Pryce Hurley can come to Robinson Gymnasium Saturday morning, I will be glad-to look © at his shoulder. , I am not sure that I will be in Lawrence on the 12th when we play Washburn at Haskell Stadium, Friday night. I may be here, but generally when we do not have a game, I am not always in Lawrence. The next home game is Hovenher 17th, Kansas State at Lawrence. I have a course in theory and practicing of athletic injuries. Personally, I would much rather that Hurley come at 9:30 in the morning on Monday, Wednesday or Friday at some time convenient to you and to me, then the boys in the class would have an opportunity of observing the injury and learning something from the situation. I have not kept a Clinic Record as I do this work voluminously and have so many of similar cause, if I did I would have no time to do any other necessary work. Letme know the date that you decide, and I will ‘endeavor to help young Hurley all that I can. However, I would advise that.the boy wear the strap to hold his shoulder in place because the shoulder joint is a very unstable one, and if he gets his elbow above the plane of the shoulder and if he should have it struck from under- neath, causing an elevation of the elbow and a lowering of the head of the humerus, the dinsoeRss en is very apt to recur. : _Sineerely yours, Director of Physical Education Varsity Basketball Coach FCA:GH John Oman, President G. G. Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas My dear Dr. Allen,- I have a boy in our school who is troubled with a shoulder having a tendency to fly out of joint. He wears a strap when playing basketball to keep it in place and the strap interferes with his playing. He was examined by you a couple of years ago and I believe he wears the strap as a result of your examination and reccommendation. His shoulder has gotten better as a result and he would like for you to see it again soon and advise him further about it. He would like to know about two weeks in advance as to the date that would be most convenient for you to examine him in order that he might make any arrange- ments at home to go. I am persump/che would prefer a Saturday, if possible to get it on that day. If you have kept a record of the examination, the name is Pryce Hurley of the above address.
