October 16, 1945 Mr. Re Vs Coleman Album of American History 597 Fifth Avenue New York, New York Dear fir. Coleman: ; Your letter has been referred to me for a reply. In 1955-36 the Eastman Kodak Company of Rochester, New York, filmed a basketball picture of the varsity basketball team here at the University of Kansas. As director of physical education and varsity basketball coach I used Dr, Naismith and showed some of the set-up of the early basketball game with the peach basket nailed to the running track of the gymnasium. The players were dressed in long. white duck trousers and quarter=sleeve shirts. This picture was taken by the Hastman Company for the Teaching Film Division--Visual Instruction. I was fortunate to have been associated with Dr. Naismith from 1902 to 1939 at the time of his death here in Lawrence. If you will write me more fully as to what you desire I may be able to help, you. Sincerely yours, Director of !’hysical lducation, Varsity Basketball Coach FCA: 1m
