C. Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: I received your letter of the 5th and it surely brought back some fond memories and some familiar names as well. I intended writing you a lot sooner, put each time I delayed, hoping that I wouldn't have to write this type of letter. Dr. Allen, while I was away at school 4 good many changes took place at home along with the present selec- tive service system. The "draft" has taken its toll in my family and now I am afraid I must stay at home and carry my share of the burden. If I do continue my education, which I sincerely hope to, it will have to be here in St. Louis. Before I go any further I want.you to know that my year at K.U. was without doubt the most education- al year of my life. I say this not merely in a scholastic manner, but in a physical, moral and social manner also. And everytime I think of this I also think of you, Dr. Allen because it was your guidance, help, and advice that made all this possible for me. As you may see 1 am trying to thank you, but words are inadequate to express my deep gratitude for all you have done for me. I hope that this won't close a friendship of which I am so proud and mention so often. Thanking you again and hoping to hear from you soon, I remain Respectfully yours, P.S. Although there are apparently no openings in the Kansas City Division at the present time, it seems best to have the applicant contact Mr. Barry for the reason that the Kansas City office would be the most accessible to Gibbons. In the meantime our Placement Division here at Bartlesville will keep their eyes and ears open for any other openings. With best wishes, I remain Sincerely yours, KSA.JAT cc - Mr. Leo Barry
