Dear Rob:

| I acknowledge receipt of your good letter of August
7th, and em sorry that you will not be able to return to
the University of Kensas this fall. I had heard that you
were applying at West Point and I was hoping thet you would
receive the appointment.

Yesterday afternoon at the Country Club John Schrader
who is manager of iieuver's department store, asked sbout yous
He seid that your mother worked for him when he was in'a de~—
partment store in Ste Louis. I told him that you were not
expecting to come back as I had received your letter yesterday
mornings He said to give you his very best regards.

I might tell you that "Red" Dugan received the
appointment at Atchison County Commmity High School, as _—
athletic coach and teacher of biological sciences. I know
thet you will be happy for Ralph because he is a grend fellows
