Cox, Basketball Coach, University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado. Dear Frosty: . I have just received a letter from George Edwards stating that you had written hi saying that Colorado is - varsity basketball this winter and that you were perhaps interested in coming in to make a foursome with Missouri, Kansas Stete and Kansas. This is for December 22 and 23 in Kansas City. I had written to Ev Shelton regarding the 15th of Decenber. We are plaming on e foursome for the 16th and 16th. If you are inter- ested in the 22nd and 23rd I will be very happy to heer from youe The arrangenents.that we have had in Kansas City heretofore are that a certain amount for expenses for each of the teans rated on railroad travel is permitted, and after the hall rental, officials' ‘fees and other expenses are taken out, the cut is four ways, of course, i> four teams are perticipeting. There is no expense money . Por promotional work, so each team gets what they draw eat the gate. But of course no one guarantees expenses to anyone. They all take their chances, but Kansas City has always proven a fine drawing card end I am sure this year will be no exception. With el11 good wishes, I am Very sinoerely yours, Dir eotor of Physical Biuoation, FCA: Ail Varsity Basketball Coach. Alien Director of Physical Education University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: I have read your latest Jayhawk Rebound with much interest and feeling. I feel that the splendid work you are doing for all the boys in the service and their loved ones at home merits a special word of praise and encouragement. I think it so magnifi- cent and thoughtful of you to send encouraging words to the boys over there and consoling thoughts to their loved ones at home. I think it marvelous for these boys and their loved ones to have a person with such capacity for friendship and understanding as you to keep in touch with so many boys and be able in such appropriate manner to offer such fine encouragement and inspira- tion to them. What a Godsend it would be if we only had a few more such inspirational friends and leaders. I did not know T, P. Hunter very well but from what I saw of him and what I have heard he must have had qualities that were well above the average. I remember seeing him at church in Lawrence on the Sun- day that Pearl Harbor was bombed. Please accept thanks from me for the fine things you are doing for these boys and for our country in helping to win this war. Ne Penny A.E.Woestemeyer A. W. Berger Ruben Fox . George Hedrick Mrss Deal Six Mrs, Caryl Dodds Lisle Eby The meeting was called to order by Mr. Eby who stated that the chief reason the meeting was called has to do with that section of the By-Laws which calls for an audit of the accounts of each member agency. Mr. Eby read Section 5 of Article X, Member Agency Agreements, which is as follows: "Each member agency shall have its accounts audited annually by an independent auditing committee appointed by the president of the Chest, and shall file a copy of such audit statement with the Community Chest. The Board may hire a competent accountant, or committee of accountants, to perform the above services.". : After general discussion, Mr. Woestemeyer moved that the Budget Committee of the Community Chest act as an auditing committee to check: up on the audits the member agencies has had,’ and if they had none to see about getting their books audited. Motion was seconded by Mrs.. Deal Six. Mr. Eby calied for a discussion of the above motion and Mr. Lowman suggested a substitute motion to the effect that the President, Mr. Eby appoint an auditing committee smaller than the Budget Committee, and that the amount of money, if any, to be spent to comply with this section of the by-laws be left to the discretion of the President. Substitute motion seconded by Mrs, Six. A vote on the substitute motion called by Mr. Eby approved same unanimously. Mr. Fox moved that we combine the National War Fund drive and the Community Chest.
