MINUTES OF TH= BOARD OF DIRECTORS LAWRENCE COMMUNITY CHEST 15 September 1944 Lisle Eby, President, presiding with the following members of the Board present: : A. W. Woestemeyer George Lowman George Hedrick Mr. Eby called the meeting to order; the minutes were read, and there being no objections thereto, they were approved as read. Mr. Woesteneyer moved, seconded by Mrs. Deal Six that the Audit Report prepared by George M. Clem, dated June 9, 1944, be approved, and that the question of considering cancelled the old outstanding checks totaling $6.75 be left up to the Finmce Committee and that. whatever action they take on it be accepted by the Board, This motion carried unanimously. President Eby next presented for the consideration and discussion of the Board, the Minutes of the Budget Committee dated 7 September 1944, copy of which is attached and made a part hereof the same as tho copied herein in full. Rev, Aszman suggested that in listing the allotments for approval some distinction should be made between the Community Service League and the regular Community Chest payments. Mr. Woestemeyer suggested that an asterisk be placed by any allotments made the Community Service League and a note to the effect that this allotment was made from funds furnished by the National War Fund and not from the Community Chest funds. There was general agreement on this suggestion. After a general discussion of all items covered in the Budget Com- mittee's Minutes, Rev. Aszman moved to accept the report in toto of the Budget Committee. This motion was seconded by Miss Carpenter and carried unanimously. Mr, Lowman moved that the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Community Chest and the Chairman of the Budget Committee and any other Board Members they may desire, act as a committee to contact the proper taxing agent to have included in their budget the $1200.00 needed by the Lawrence Recreational Council. This motion was seconded by Mrs, Six and earried unanimously. President Eby, reporting on the question of auditing the books of member agencies, stated that a Committee consisting of Ruben Fox, Warren Decker and George Clem had been appointed with the under- standing that Mr. Clem was to do any work that was necessary and that he was to be paid for it. Mr, J. H. Parsons, Chairman of the Lawrence Community Chest War Fund Drive,attended the meeting as a guest of the Board and gave a brief report on the organization of the campaign to date. Mrs. Six, seconded by Miss Carpenter, moved to adjourn - carried.
