Minutes, Budget Committee, Community Chest, 9-7-44, 7:50 P.M.

After much discussion, especially of the $300,00 increase over
last year of the v.W.CeAs, Dean Jones moved to recommend to the
Board that each of the groups listed be alloted the same as last
year with the exception of the Salvation Army, and that their 1944-
45 allocation be approved as requested. Mr. Whipple seconded this
motion and it carried making the dllocations for the coming year
as listed below:

it was further resolved that Mr, Hedrick and Mr. Fox take
up with the President of the chest the question of advising the
YsWiCrAs GF Se refusal of ‘their increase in allotment.

The next question was the 41200.00 requested by the Lawrenc®
Recreational Council. After discussion, Mr. Whipple moved that the
Committee recommend to the Chest that the $1200.00 be placed in the
budget as part of the community activity for this year with the under-
standing that this committee thinks this activity a proper function
of some taxing unit and not 4a. proper activity to be included in the
community accivity funds, and that other arrangements should be made
after this year. This motion was seconded by Dean Jones and carried.

The Committee then next approved the following items in the
budget:

Shrinkage $400.00
Campaign Costs 500.00
Administrative Costs_600.00

Total — $1500.00

on motion by Mr. Whipple, seconded by Mr. Brinkman the $1500.00
itemized above was approved to be recommended to the Board. It

was suggested that campaign costs and administration be combined
making a total sum of $1100.00, and shown as one item on the printed
folder.

The next order of business was the disposition of the 43,873.03
surplus left in the 1945-44 funds. Dean Jones moved that 42000. 00
be placed in the reserve fund and the balance be carried as a credit
in computing the 1944-45 funds to be raised. This motion was seconded
by Mr. Decker and carried.
