Thanks for your kindness in mailing me a check
for my trip to Topeka. I assure you this exceeded the auto-
mobile travel expense, but I thank you for it.

I assure you it was a pleasure to be with you,
although I found my difficult day somewhat detracted from my
speech. I did not think I did a good job. However, it was
a pleasure for me to do anything I could, if possible, to
help the war effort.
