Dear Mr. Crawford: I am leaving for Wichita this evening, but will give you a hasty reply to your letter of November 12 asking for basketball information. 1. Iam enclosing a copy of our 1944-45 schedule as it is at the present time. oy 2, The 1943-44 schedule is also enclosed, with scores of the games played. 3. We have only one returning regular letterman - Charlie Moffett, and he is at present a halfback on the football team. Others returning from last year are Dean Corder, Don Diehl, Louis Goehring, and Kirk Scott. All of these were substitutes, and did not see much actione Scott was restricted by Navy regulations about the first of Januarye 4. The following of last year's lettermen have been transferred to — other Navy V-12 units: MeSpadden, Barrington, Sherwood, Turner, Franke Stucker and Malott have entered the armed services. Lindquist (4P) is doing war defense work in Kansas City, and Dick is doing graduate work at K.U.. 6. I am beginning my 27th cons eoutive year as basketball coach at the University of Kansas. 6. Missouri, with five lettermen, looks. like the leader in the Big Sic Conference, with Oklahoma next. Little is known about Iowa State, but they have a big Navy contingent there and they have been up in all their competitive sports.
