Allen, Basketball Coach, University of Kansas, Lawrence, KansaSe Dear Mra Allens We would like to thank you for having served in the past 4s one of the experts on our All-America Basketball Board which elected the two groups of College All-Stars who defeated the world's basketball champions in 1940 and repeated in the 1941 Clas- sic in Chicagos We shall feel honoed if you will again accept a place on this Board and aid in the selection of the group who will oppose the world's champions in the third amval classic to be held at the Chicago Stadium on November 27the All you have to do is to kindly send us your nominations from players you have either seen or with whose exploits you are familiar so that they are eligible for the poll in the selection of the All-Stars. Only graduated seniors from last year's varsity are eligible, and we would appreciate your giving us any information you can about the players you nominate. : ~ We Will all be doing a good service this year particularly on this All-Star gama, because through the cooperation of the Army and Navy Departments, it is being staged as an Army-Navy Relief affair, and we expect to turn over a record amount for an indoor sports event to this fund. The reason we are contacting you so early is because we know that some of your nom inees Will have undoubtedly been in the Service since graduation; and it will enable us to contact them and arrange for furloughs, as we expect the War Department and the Navy Department to cooperate whenever possible.
