1500 Crescent Road Lawrence, Kansas August 7, 1941 Dr. Forrest C, Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: Iam listing the information you had in mind to send to Mr. Harl Schaeffer at Wichita. I graduated in 1932 with a degree of Bachelor of Seience in Hlectrical Ingineering. New employment for engineers seemed impossible because of the depression and I found it best to stay with my job as an electrician for the goa terelty In 1936, I was promoted to Chief Flectrician at $150.00 per month. My duties and experience as Electrical Engineer for the Maintenance Department of the University of Kansas are essentially of two classes: First, designing, estimating costs, preparing specifications for material to be purchased and install- ations to be made, inspecting of material and work, and conducting tests such as illumination surveys, strength tests of materials, and efficiency tests of electric refrigerators: Second, super- vising the installing and maintaining of underground cables, elec- tric wiring, machinery, and cQuipment which have to do with the underground electric power transmission, distribution systems in buildings for power, lighting, and laboratory purposes, illumination, intereommunication, sound, air conditioning, refrigeration, ven- tilation, and laboratory equipment. | If Mr. Schaeffer is able to arrange an interview for me I shall be glad to go to Wichita or Seattke or both. I will be on vacation until September lst, and a little trip to Seattle wouldn't be bad at all. I will be going through Wichita wi thee the ext week as I plan to visit relatives in Oklahoma, -I certainly appreciate your writing to Mr. Schaeffer about me, and I hope he will be able to see me and make me an offer, Very truly yours,
