LARGEST DAILYAND SLNDAY CIRCULATION ASSOCIATED-PRESS IN THE STATE OF KANSAS UNITED PRESS : INTERNATIGNAL NEWS SERVICE The Wichita Beacon EVENING AND SUNDAY MORNING M. M. LEVAND, Presipent See ere WICHITA, KANGAS HOME OF THE WICHITA BEACON Feb, 20, 1940 Dr. F.C. Allen Kansas University lawrence, Kas, Dear Phog: Sorry I didn't get to at least say hello dow at Stillwater the other night when your club played Oklahoma Aggies. But mking connections te tween that town and any other is extremely tough so I had to leave immediately after the contest, Frankly, that was a tough one to lose. I thot yours was the better club ,altho the Aggies did show plehty in those first five minutes. However, my book showed fourteen set shots for Kansas in the first half and it has always been my observation that good basketbali clubs don't pemmit such things to take place. , Both clubs looked a little tight, altho the maneuvering of K.U. was much better than tmt of the Aggies. It was the first time I had seen Bob play and I know now that all the things they have been saying about him weren't falsehoods, That kid has it. In his quarterback role he's something of a combination of Chuck Hyatt and old Harold Hewitt, Am happy to hear he has no desire templay independent or A.A.U, bal. I've seen that end of the sport mke tramps out of too many worthwhile youngsters. Would you be so kind as to have the public relations bunch ut aside a couple of press tickets for me to the Missouri game ? i realize this is asking a lot in view of the fact that you're probably already sold out,but I'd like one seat at the press table and one other reserved, é 3 Kindly drop me a line on the matter. Wishing you lo is)of success in your @ight for the Big Six crown, remin, Jack Copela Sports tditdor
