Allen Department of Physical Education Kansas University Lawrence, Kansas Dear Doctor: Possibly you won't remember me but I was in school fora short time at Kansas, My home is in Belleville where the Nesmith boys come from, Doctor I have a definite purpose in mind as I write to you. I would very much like to ee into athletic training, I know that you are recognized as one of the outstanding men in the country in this line of sports worke I thought that by writing to you it might aid me in getting a start, I have been going to school here in Kearney to the State Normal College and have been active in the athletic depart- ment. My work consists of the usual work as a trainer ina small college, I have not, however, completed my work for « degree and = is somewhat of a handicap. This work does not pay anything in the way of a salary because no fund has been set aside for such a purpose so I am doing it for the experience that may be derived from it, IL would like to be able to secure a. job of this sort in a small school or in any type of athletic organization and gradually work uv. I have had most of my anatomy and other essential courses and would like to come to Kansas for a short period of study under you if I couldknow that I would be able to secure a position somewhere,
