In two years we were pleying and defeatinz teums of the Big Twelve Conference, such as Douirlie, Denville, Decatur, Pooriz and Unssipsign. Never won the chemoionship, the closest being marred by - 7-6 defeat by Champaign. Hed only fair success in basketball--won the district treck meet four of the five years and lost the fifth by one-half point, scored high in the Illinois State Mcet and clweys scored in the Stagy Mcet in Chicago, Superintendent H. B. Eleck, Matoon, Illinois. Attended summer school st the University of Illinois in 1929, taking clesses in athletic coaching enl pirrsical educetion. 193-35--Footbali end track coach at Devis Technical High School, Grand Ranids, Michigan, the newest and smallest school in a city of seven high schools. Davis Tech had hed indifferent success in athletics previous to 1930. I never won a city championship but pulled Davis Tech from the bottom to the third plece in the City League. The teams were grounded there in fundanen- tals and were admired for their fight and being hard to beat. Never won city championship but held victories over every team in the city with one excertion. Davis Tech had no track team orevicus to 1930. In 1935, we held three city records, displacing records cof long standing. Relay teams undefected in 1935, wiminge the State Championship. Scored higher in State meet than any cther city schocl. Introduced intre-mural system at Davis Tech--teught boys physical education. Spring 1935, supervised nine city playgrcunds.
