Dear Doc:

I have your letter in regard to the tennis exhibition and
have just phoned Hal Surface. It seems that Hal has not played
for a month or so and feels that he could hardly do his public
justice without some practice. Of course I haven't played in
five or six months but then my public has gone the way of all
flesh and I am not so particular. However he is very willing to
come down and you can count on us for some sort of performance
on the night of the 7th.

Frankly by the time you set up the court and get us started
to play we would be no more than warmed up and ready to hit the
ball a few times before you and the boys would be ready to do
battle again on the basket ball court. I wonder if it would not
concentrate the attention of the spectators more and be more in-
teresting if we worked out something in the nature of a demon-
stration on some of the so called finer points of the game.

for instance I could imagine Al Burgess, the local professional,

with a microphone on the floor talking and pointing out difierent
shots which Hal and I could demonstrate. Then perhaps after the

game we might have a tast doubles match between four good players
whom I know I could furnish. I am afraid actual playing would be
sort of a failure unless we had a little more time but we will be
governed, of course, by whatever you want.

We may come down once before then and get our hand in a little
and we can talk about it at that time or you can let me know which
you think will be best. Don't werry, we won't let you down.
