1414 East 22nd Cheyenne, Wyoming January 11, 1946 Dr. F. C. Allen Director of Athletics . University of Kansas Lewrence, Kansas © Dear Dr. Allen: Our daughter, Pattie, was married in November to a discharged Marine. Her husband, John J. Schmid, is most anxious to enter the University of Kansas under the G.1I-Bill at the beginning of the second semester. Will you kindly give me information regarding the date of the new semester and if it is at all possible to find a. small apartment in Lawrence for the two of them. John is a graduate of the class of "42" of Cheyenne High School and has, the proper qualifica- tions for entrance to the Engineering School at the University. Pattie would like very much to have a stenographic position either at the University or in Lawrence in order to supplement John's allotment as a student. She is now employed as Clerk-Stenographer under Civil Service in the District OPA Office in Cheyenne and retes very good in efficiency. This is asking a great favor of you with all your many duties, but as the daughter of "Fighting Tom" it will mean so much to me to have another member of the family en- rolled in dear old KU. I shall be glad to pay a substantial deposit in order to hold an apartment if you should locate one for the children. Wire me collect if it is at all possible for John to enter KU by the end of the first semester. With best wishes, I am Very sincerely, iyllab BM Auit, Pak
