October 15, 1945 Jack Dillard, A.S., USNR Navy V-12 Unit, C 318 A Washburn Municipal University Topeka, Kansas ‘Dear Yack: I am appreciative of your interest in writing me regarding our policy concerning the Navy V-12 university boys: for basketball. Yes, Jack, we are definitely — planning on using the V-12 boys in our basketball. They have always been some of our finest athletics and students and I would not think of leaving them out, ‘Will you please tell Stramel, Van Gundy, and Ul#éeh that they are welcome to our campus and to our team. We are practicing now and will continue until the first of November but this will not mitigate any of you boys coming out for the tean. : The football team hore at Kansas is a dandy but we feel that you boys were outweighed and outematched, so it is not a detriment that you lost to a fine team. When you boys come to the campus be sure and drop in at my office and say he@lo as I assure you you will be welcone. With all good wishes, I an, Yours very sincerely, Director of Physical Education, Varsity Basketball Coach FOAsLM
