I recently made apvlication for a position with the

Hercules Powder Company and in the application I was asked to
give references as to what I had been doing for the past twenty
years or so. In answer to-one question regarding my business
soon after leaving the army after the world war I stated that
I worked for myself as broker and salesman of army salvage
goods. This particylar phase called for some names ef people
who knew that I had been im such a business at that time and

I gave your name as one of my references. 1 felt sure you
would remenber that at that time I had contacted you in regard
to the purchase of army blankets for the football team but as Il
recall you had just purchased those fine sheep lined coats for
the men, —
