October 15, 1941 Prof. ti. W. Davis Prank Strong Hall Campus i am writing you to ask a bit of help. If my recollection of events is correct, you and your Senate committee on athletics and physical education recommended to the Senate for ‘their consideration that I be appointed in charge of recreation for the University. This, of course, to apply to this years When this came up before the Senate in their meeting, Mr. Posey recommended that this recommendation be referred back to the committee. I have no knowledce that this was ever brought up by the committee after Mr. Posey's motion. I do not get the point of Er. Posey's action, but that wes done, nevertheless. Now, here's the problem. During the winter we have recreation not under the control of the Athletic Association or even the Départment of Physical Education, I think it should really be called, “Recreation®. I am enclosing a letter that Chancellor Walott wrote me regarding skiing and a copy of my reply to hime He in turn replied to me as of Bot. 14. Wy reply to him is here- with also enclosed. I am wondering if you, az chairman, will be. willing to follow up the action of the Senate committee and the consequent act of Mr. Posey with intent to either smoking this terse gentleman out or finding out what he had in mind when he made this motion. If this ection of Er. Posey's has never been brought up before the committee, why can't you, as chairman of the committee, work it out when there’s been so much smoke? Thank you, Colonel, very much. Sincerely, Director of Physical Education and Recreation Varsity Basketball and Baseball Coach |
