Dear Doc:

I am sure you haven't time to carry on a
regular correspondence with a punk like me but I
simply had to drop you just a note of thanks for your
recent letter.

Alice and I were so sorry to hear about your
home disaster! We can imagine how upset Mrs. Allen must
have been because she told Alice,at such great length,
about how hard she had worked to put her home in apple-
pie order just before leaving on the eastern trip. We
do hope that you at least had insurance to cover all of
your ruined decorations and furnishings,
