Dear Dr. Allen:

JOHN CRESS, whom we recommeded to you last fall
informs me that he is to be drafted. I wonder if you
will be seeking someone to take his place. The reason
I am writing to you at this time is that we have a
senior who is very-well qualified and if you are to have
a vacancy he might contact you before he makes other
plans. He is married and expects not to be drafted.

We should also appreciate a letter of recommendation
from you concerning Mr. Cress. Thank you very much.
