November 1, 1939. Dear Df. Allen; I was very happy to receive your letter concerning Lang Foot and Arch Normalizer. I hepe to have a couple of these in my new training room in the near future. I was greatly surprised on my arfival here to take over my new position to find a new training room fully equipped waiting for me. My rectiving this job here is’ still almost a dream to me. I sent in my application for the position early last spring with little hove of hearing anything about it. It was the latter part of July before I received any word from it--the day I wes to take Maxine to Okalhoma City to await the stork--J received a telegram asking if I was still interested in the Pitt job. In less than two weeks arrangemehts were made and 1 was on my way to the smokey city the 2nd of September. Several contacts that I made on the Olympic trip to Germany seemed to have helped me out, Besides my training work, I am also getting some teaching experience. I have siz hours of gym classes per week and a two hour course in the freatment of athletic injuries, I have certainly been making fZood use of the pictures you gave me to illustrate taping and manipulation in this class. The football team started out with a bang but lost two heart- -breaking games to Duquesne and Fordham. We had both games won up until the third quarter when the breaks turned against us. We are very hagpbly located in our new home out in the Forest Hills district. It is six miles out from school but is comparatively free of the smoke out here. With best regards, I am Very sincerely, Byapee Peal en October 30, 1939 lire James Davis, Maskell Institute, Lawrence, TANSAS.
