many which you have recéived regarding the same request.

I have made an expression of interest in the
basketball position at Kansas State and gave you as the
only reference,because you are familiar both with my
qualifications and the situation at Kansas State. In,fact,
this is the first position I have applied for since being
at Carleton,but my friends have advised me that if a person
has an offerefor another position,he then has an opportunity
t o bargain at home,

Whatever you feel justified to do on my behalf
will indeed be appreciatedand in the meantime,best wishes
for a most pleasant summer,

I have been advised that Mr.Ahearn will not be in
his office until after July 10.
