Dear Doc;

Received your letter
yesterday and I have already written Bratus and will
write to Glemn today.

In our conversation over the
phone, you mentioned that Smokey Joe Wood was baseball
coach at Yale and that you knew him. I thought teed
that name sounded familiar to me, so I wrote my mother
about it and she replied that Smokey Joe Wood's father |
and her father--my Grandfather Wells--are first cousins.
Smokey Joe attended the same grade school in Pike County
Pennsylvania as did my mother. While this may not have
any bearing toward securing the job, it may be a means
of contacting Smokey Joe Wood and securing some infor-
mation through him,

We were very happy to read of
Kansas' victory over Kansas State, then Nebraska had to
come along and take all the joy out of life. We wish you
and the team the best of luck against Missouri and Kansas
State this wesk.
