Dear Generous Givers:

It is with a thrill of justifiable pride that I congratulate
each one of you who gave to the second annual Lavrenee Community Chest
Drivee Your most generous response enabled tho Mt. Orond contingent
to go over the top with a big bang. This achicvoment is the second
climactic yoar in suscession for use Solcahd

You know the story of how we execeded our quota last yoar with
a total subscription of 4§1554.50. Tho USO drivo in Lawronco duc to
start this sumer wos postponed until fcoll, <A ten por sent increase
over our last yoar's quota was considered sufficiont for the USO and
the newly added K.U. Y.M.C.Ae quota, This amount would make our drivo
objective on Mte Oread a total of $1709.95. To date wo havo recoived
subscriptions totalling $1962.40. Tho K.U. Y.W.C.... on the Hill desired
not to onter into the Community Chest budgot plan.

of the city of Lawrence and faculty and employocs of the University wore
asked to givee

Many faculty members are still out of tom and an opportunity
will be given them to contribute before wo make our final roport to
the Comunity Chest.

The stcwardship of this fund is in good hands. Icst yoar we
raiscd moro money than was necessary for tho buégot:-roquirononts.
By consulting the green pamphict on tho ains ané purposes of tho
Comaunity Chest which was mailed to you, you will note that 41704.56
was turned back into this year's budgot from last year's ovor-subscribed
quota (less 1,000 omergoney fund). An audit by an accountant will be
made and published shoving all expenditures from Woverber 1, 1940, to
November 1, 1941,

I have enjoyed giving my tine to tho Community Chest Drive, but
like 111 labors of love, I sincerely hope that the chairmanship can be
passed on to one of youe Those successes could not havo boon possible
without your prompt and gonerous giving. I pledgo ny full cooperation
in retaining this uniquo distinction for ow University family. I
acknowledgo with thanks the kh lp that I have reccivod from Dr. Nolson
