Gentlemen:

The Special Gifts Committee of the Lawrence Community
Chest Ine. have presented me with pledge cards, I have been
asked to hand these to you, but I prefer to send them through
the mail so that you can have more time to meditate before
making your gift.

I would appreciate it if you would return the card to
me through the University mail. The deadline is Saturday
noon. If the card is placed in the mail by Saturday noon it
will be possible for me to make my report to the Special Gifts
Committee the first thing Monday morning, 3

The Special Gifts Committee desires that a report be made
to them before actual solicitation begins on Tuesday morning the
29th of October, The drive among the townspeople and the
faculty members on the Hill will last three days, the 29th,
450th, and 3lst.

Please refer to the perforated card entitled "Subscrib-
er's Receipt." The committee desires to call attention to
the fact that "An individual may deduct 15% of his net in-
come under the Federal and State Income Tax Laws,"
