November 22, 1941 Prof. Gilbert Ulmer College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Frank Strong Hall Campus Dear Professor Ulmer, © I have your communication regarding Eddie Turner. I am not at all surprised that he is in serious scholastic difficulty. I believe that there is‘a serious emotional disturbance, although I do not have the kmowledge of just exactly what the difficulty is. Doubtless it is an inferiority complex that troubles him. When he came out for basketball he was the butt of jokes from his freshman teammates. He has very little athletic ability, but he represents himself to the boys as a star player. I think this is similar to his state of mind regarding his studies. - I will be happy if I can make any contribution in helping this boy get straightened out. Sincerely, 3 Director of Physical Education and Recreation Foa/pg Varsity Basketball and Baseball Coach
