THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS AND SCIENCES OFFICE OF THE DEAN LAWRENCE October 10, 1941 Dre Forrest C. Allen Department of Physical Education My dear Phog: Thank you so much for showing me the correspondence with Mr. Browne. It is very interesting. I have sometimes thought that you and I had much in common, for both of us find ourselves so frequently trying to buck the crowd and its accepted practices. Sometimes I get very tired of what seems to be the everyday fight to maintain decent standards. Sometimes I feel like turning the responsibility over to others, telling myself that I have done my share of it,and now it is someone else's turn to carry on; and then I realize that that would be cowardly and that I could do it only by forfeiting my self-respect. I hope you will continue to stand for the things in athletics for which you have always stood. Good luck to youl Sincerely yours, <3 Paul Be. Lawson, Dean PBL: js
