My dear Phog:

The big smoke which produced the big fire came from a cigar which

was supposed to have cost Wagstaff one dollar, and which I attempted
to smoke as a result of the promise a year ago that I would smoke
such a cigar. Yesterday I found out that the cigar cost only twenty-
five cents, so that Mr. Wagstaff hasn't heard the last of the
proposition.
