Dear Friend Allen,

Your book came this morning, and
has set me back an hour -- the hour
given to the reading of such pages as
breath of *Phog™ Alien.

When your letter came announcing
the. book, I had some fears -=- that it
would be solely a text-book on offense
and defense, of squad diet and leg bandages,
but it is defimitely more; it is a de-
finitive treatment of the sport, full
of entertaining reading, full of that
commendable interest in the boy athlete,
rather than in the score-board. It is
that attitude for which I have long
held the author in high esteem.

The years slip away; I had no.idea
that Miltonts play for Kansas is now
history.
