L. W. MAYBERRY, SUPERINTENDENT : BENJ. W. TRUESDELL, VICE-PRINCIPAL WICHITA HIGH SCHOOL EAST L. W. BROOKS, PRINCIPAL WICHITA, KANSAS September 25, 1939 Dr. Forest C. Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas My dear Dr. Allen: I was out of town when your telegram came and it was several days before I received it. Anyway, the basketball position had been filled before that by Everett Nicholson from Arkansas City. I think he is an excellent man. I am glad that Eddie Wood has a good job selling cars. He is a good salesman and deserves to succeed in that field. As you know, Vanek is at North High School,so Wichita should pro- duce some better basketball this year than heretofore. I am most grateful to you for your interest and wish I might have had one of the boys you had trained in basketball, for I have great faith in your system. Our big football boy, McEnulty, is attending Wichita University. He tried to get a job in Lawrence and not being able to,decided to take work down here this year. He is an unusually fine fellow and a good football player. School has opened well here in Wichita with slight increases in the high school and a great in- crease in interest in athletics. I think we will do better, at least I hope so. With best wishes for a splendid Yemt-at K.U., I am Very truly yours, fiwBreot — L. W. Brooks, Principal Wichita High School East LWB:BA
