BUTCHER, PRESIDENT EMPORIA HEAD OF DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND November 13, 1940 DIRECTOR OF TEACHER TRAINING Brother Official: For sometime there has been a desire among a few college officials of Kansas to form a state organizatione We are now attempting to organize this groupe The origin of all organizations start about the seme--by popular demand of a small group interested in a good cause which will be beneficial to the individual and the group as a wholee A small group of officials met last week in Topeka, selected Dwight Ream as temporary chairman and — truly secretary and decided upon the following procedure. Ae The first official meeting will be held in Kansas City, Moe on the week end of December Ph. Why? Because all the conferences in the Missouri Valley district meet there at this time and several coaches are officials and several Kansas officials have to be there for other meetings. Be Invitations will be extended to only those officials who have worked college basketball or football games. Ce At this meeting permanent officers will be selected, objectives and other necessary regulations will be drafted to insure a functional and perman- ent orgenizatione De Attend this meeting if its hossible--we need your helpe If you can't attend please write us your views concerning the organization so they cen be considered in our procedure there. Ee Within a few days after the Kansas City meeting we will hold the second meeting in a centrally located place, expand upon the first meeting and start the ball rolling by having a basketball rules interpretatione Fe For a successful organization every college official should be activee At present we do not have a complete list of college officials-- please inquire of your friendsswho officiate college ball whether they have received an invitation and if not extend them one.
