HEADQUARTERS, NINTH DIVISION FORT BRAGG, N. C. Office of G2 15 February 1941 Dr. Fe. C, Allen, Director of Athletics, University of Kansas Lawrence, Kase ) Dear Friend Doctor: Due “to the fact that the telegraphic facilities here are so crowded(and énefficient), it occurred to me that perhaps you did not get my wire of a few days ago. Then again, you may have been away or may have been quite busy, which I fully appreciate. We will start our series on the first Wednesday following re- receipt of your column. The Colonel (Colonel Dockler, who knows your brother) suggested that on account of the fact that basketball is in full swing down here right now, that it would be quite appropriate to open the series with your column. So we are "holding everything", until we receive your contri- | bution. We now have a really splendid list of coluims, the latest being one by Bill MeKechnie, manager of the Cincinnati Reds, It is not a sports column series in any sense of the word. We have representatives in all the major lines of endeavor--and all are absolute leaders, I sure hope I am not acting hasty, Doctor, but if you find it convenient, I know we all wll appreciate your column at your earliest con- wenience. We really are figuring on you strong. I wecently wrote your secretary but have not as yet received an answer. I requested your picture. Also a resume of Won and Lost, ete. records of your teams, with your present "jobs", I am keeping close watch for a letter posted at Lawrence, Kas. With kindest regards and best wishes to you, your family and the Jayhawks, I am Respectfully e , mth SGT. ED A. FETTING, G-2 Office, | 9th Division, Ft. Bragg, N.C.
