CARPENTE November 15, 1940, Dre F.C.Allen, University of Kansas, Lawrence, “ansas. Dear Doc: I returned to my deskthis morning to find your good letter. It came while I was out on a three-day trade trip with some of the members of the Jobbers and Manufacturers League. It was good to have an account of the team. Yes, our boys are big from ‘tackle to tackle and plenty dumb, but this ball club will be in somebody's bowl next year. They have too much talent on the loose not to click. You are quite right about Kansas's exceptionally nice showing. Doc, I am quite certain you have been given some unfortunate information with reference to the 0.G.&H.'s connection with Tucker. These folks are pretty good boosters, but not in the proselyting business, They furnish some 0. C. U. boys jobs but do not take care of any of Tom or Bruce's kids. | THis company is headed by J. F. Owens, President, and a former Iola school teacher and their local division manager is Glenn C. Kiley, one of Doc. Meanwell's boys. The writer had Kiley at one of our K.U, Luncheons and he has been a very fine admirer of yours. I hope we can straighten out this tangle to your and their satisfaction. _ “PAPER IS OUR BUSINESS AND NOT A SIDE LINE”
