UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI COLUMBIA INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS June 20 ; 1942, Dr. ‘Re Ga Allen, Director of Physical Education, University of Kansas, 3 Lawrence, Kan. Dear Dr. Allen: Thanks for your Big Six schedule. Oklahoma and Kansas State have not yet replied to my request. As soon as they do I'll type up the composite list. This voluntary anél unofficial effort, however, already has corrected an@ error for Nebraska and clarified a sit- uation for Menze. : Your letter of the 9th, followed by editorials by C. E. McBride in the Star, apparently closes the door on the suggestion that we join with you in entertaining the service teams in the Auditorium. The plan was heartily endorsed by managers of both Navy squads, and by a number of mutual friends in Kansas City, but sifce it does not meet your approval it must have been a dud. I am sorry if our scheduling the Great Lakes team here on January 29th put a crimp in some of your plans. Cook proposed games with us when I met him at your Great Lakes game last winter, and repeated the _ suggestion at the N.C.A.A. gamese Hinkle was supplied with our open dates and made the selection of the 29th. Soon afterwards I heard that you were working for a double header series with the Navy teams and Oklahoma A & M, This rumor was verified by you in your letter of the 9th, and you state that we wrecked such negotiations by taking on Great Lakes on that date. Believing that the substitution of Missouri for Iba's crew might fill the bill I proposed that we move our two games in with yours, and Snyder and Hinkle both sent favorable replies. I ‘am somewhat at a loss to explain to myself why Missouri wouldn't be acceptable unless you feel that we would be such a poor drawing card that we wouldn't earn our share of the cute if that is true, then I am still more confused by your counter proposal that Kansas and Missouri ask conference consent for a non=championship game in K. OC.
