. OFFICE OF THE DEAN THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS SCHOOL OF EDUCATION LAWRENCE September 18, 1939 Dr. Forrest C. Allen 105 Robinson Gymnasium The University of Kansas My dear Dr. Allen: The Committee on the Administration of the University Teachers' Diploma sympathetically considered both of your letters of recommendation but felt that in view of the fact that it was rigidly insisting on the scholastic requirements in all other departments common fairness demanded that the same standards be asked for in physical education which are currently observed by other departments of the University. It is my personal opinion that for the next two or three years it would be wise to take the attitude of the committee rather seriously because as soon as students learn that the committee is quite insist-— ent upon standards for practice teaching they will plan to meet the minimum standard in general scholar- ship and difficulties will disappear as they have disappeared in connection with all the other divi- sions of the University which are concerned. I shall be glad to talk this matter over with you personally at your convenience if you wish to do S0. Sincerely yours, ond A. Schwegler / Dean
