Kansas City, Mo. June 10, 1942 Dear Doctor: I am writing you in regard to the possibility of securing a letter of recommendation for the Physical Education program of the United States Navy. Since the applications for a commission in the Physic¢al Education program have been discontinued, I am attempting to obtain a Chief Petty Officer's rating in Gene Tunney's program. His representative is due in Kansas City on the sixteenth of June; so, if possible, "Doe", {*d sure appreciate a letter of recommendation. How are all the Allen's? Please give them my regards. I am still working for Phillips, but under the present circumstances, I dont think it will be for long as eventually Unele Sam will be needing more men. I am trying to enlist as I believe in cetting in —— I like, rather than wait and get placed. The Ebling's are all in good health, and the youngest of them is certainly getting grown up and cute, Ray has been sent back to Bartlesville again, so I dont see much of the family, and must go on correspondence for news. Well, Doc, I hope you will be able to find time to help me, and shenks alot. Sincerely, Lom
