Allen Director of rhysical Education University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: T have talked with Mr. Henry and Mr. Klooz in regard to a "K" award in wrestling for myself. Just a brief review regarding my athletic career at K. U.. I won my Freshman numeral in 1931-32 in wrestling. I went out for Football my Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years and also wrestling all four years. I have had varsity competition with Missouri and Kansas State. I believe it was four meets in all. I did not receive a letter while attending the University. I am wondering at this time if you would recommend a "K"for me? I am asking this recommendation in view of the fact that while at K. U. I was very much interested in athletics and went out for them all four years. I am also very much interested in coaching basketball and football here at Garden City and a "K" would add a tremendous amount of prestige. I also believe it would aid me in having more influence with my boys. Due to the fact that I am in the coaching field and expect to continue in that field, you can see what a "K" award would mean to me. I hope you can see fit to make this recommendation. Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter. cerely yours, ey ee S verley wed n." 517 North 8th St. Garden City, Kansas October 2, 1989. Alien University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen, (YOu will never know how much I enjoyed, and profited by, my association with you during the Georgia Coaches Association meeting at Georgia Tech. Just to be with you gives one ideas about basketball and how to teach the game to youngsters. I know that the coaches of Georgia, and others who were fortunate enough to hear you, will newer forget what you had to say about the game. I have been trying to coach basketball for eighteen years; I have studied the game for hours, but I do believe that my association with you has meant as much to me as all the study and experience I have been through. So I gay, thank you. i spoke to Mr. H.G. Koberds, Villa Rica Mills, Villa Rica, Georgia, about the sock and he said that he would be glad to receive your order. N. Y. TEACHING FILMS DIVISION November 1, 1939 Dr. Forrest C. Allen, Director Physical Education and Recreation Varsity Basketball Coach University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas My dear Dr. Allen: I am in receipt of your letter of October 27 concerning excess material on the basketball films. Mr. Edwards happens to be away from the office this week, but I shall take it up with him immediately upon his return, and if we can supply you with the desired scene, we shall, of course, be glad to do so. If we were to include it in our future sales of the film, it would involve, I judge, the re-writing and re-printing of the guide covering the film -- which would be a considerable expense, and unless the matter is of supreme importance, I should not care to make the change. I think that none of the excess material was destroyed, and I hope we may be able to supply you with it. We would like to also but in view of the fact that there are three football games in our Conference on the 2nd on account of F. D. R. it becomes necessary for us to move our meeting to a week later.
