April 12, 1939 Dr. Forrest Cc. Allen Director of rhysical Education University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: T have talked with Mr. Henry and Mr. Klooz in regard to a "K" award in wrestling for myself. Just a brief review regarding my athletic career at K. U.. I won my Freshman numeral in 1931-32 in wrestling. I went out for Football my Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years and also wrestling all four years. I have had varsity competition with Missouri and Kansas State. I believe it was four meets in all. I did not receive a letter while attending the University. I am wondering at this time if you would recommend a "K"for me? I am asking this recommendation in view of the fact that while at K. U. I was very much interested in athletics and went out for them all four years. I am also very much interested in coaching basketball and football here at Garden City and a "K" would add a tremendous amount of prestige. I also believe it would aid me in having more influence with my boys. Due to the fact that I am in the coaching field and expect to continue in that field, you can see what a "K" award would mean to me. I hope you can see fit to make this recommendation. Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter. cerely yours, ey ee S verley wed n." 517 North 8th St. Garden City, Kansas
