THE KANSAS STATE TEACHERS COLLEGE OF EMPORIA FOUNDED 1863 AS THE KANSAS STATE NORMAL SCHOOL THOMAS W. BUTCHER, PRESIDENT EMPORIA R. G. CREMER, BURSAR September 23, 1938 Dr. F. G. Allen, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. My dear Dr. Allen: We are considering the reorganization of the personnel of our athletic board of control. Would you please send me information as to the personnel of your athletic board of control or whatever board controls the athletic policies of your institution? I do not care particularly for names of individuals but I am more interested in their relationship to the school and to the physical education or athletic department. To illustrate, at the present time our athletic board of control is composed as follows: 1. President of college, 2. director of athletics, 3. head coach of football, basket ball and track, 4. six faculty members outside of the department of physical education and athletics, 5. student president of our "K" Club, and 6. three student members from the Student Council. I would like to know who appoints or how your membership is elected. If you have members other than the faculty or students, please give their relationship to your college. We are seriously considering that the membership of our board of control should be composed of individuals not directly con- nected with the physical education and athletic program and using the coaches and physical education department members in an advisory capacity. What would you think of such a program? I would appreciate hearing from you at your convenience and desire to thank you very much for your cooperation in this matter. A stamped envelope is enclosed for your reply. Very truly yours, Oi pe ia coretary of Athletic Board. RGC DD © Enc.
