Dr. Forrest C. Allen Director of Physical Education Lawrence, Kansas Dear Doc: I had a talk with Harold Schmidt this morning about my playing with Kappelman and he said that A. A. U. rules were different from Intercollegiate rules, and therefore my playing in the Freshman game would automatically make me a professional, al- though this rule does not apply to the Freshmen. If this is the case, it will be impossible for m to compete in this game on January 7. Schmidty also informed me that he did not know whether playing with another team would hurt my standing. He is going to look into this matter for me and try to get permission fram the A. A. U. for me to play in this game. If this is the ruling for me, I think it will apply to Noble and the rest of the boys as well. I would like to play in this game very much, and I know Noble does as well, but all this will have to be looked into before the game. I thought that you might be able to help us in getting in the clear, thereby enabling us to play at this time. Please advise me about these rulings at your earliest possible convenience. Sincerely, fa & Ze ce: Ray Noble
