Dear Student:

The National Headquarters of the Selective Service System is conducting a
national survey of the effect of Selective Service on colleges and universities,
Enclosed is a copy of DSS Form 71, “Student Report on Selective Service Status"
which is to be filled out by every male student who had reached the age of 21
prior to July 1, 1941.

It is very much to your interest that you fill out this card, accurately and
completely, and return it immediately, in person, to the Registrar's Office, 122
Frank Strong Hall, All blanks should be completed according to directions, If
you have any questions you may receive instructions at the Registrar's Office as
to how to proceed. Please call in person; do not telephone,

General instructions:

Question G. Local board number and address are important only if there is more
than one board in the town in which your board is located,

Question J. Full-time students are defined as follows, in terms of hours
carried this semester:

Graduate, Law and Senior Medics: 11 hours or more;

College, Fine Arts, Pharmacy, Zducation, Business, Freshman Engineers, and
Freshman Medics: 12 hours or more;

Sophomore, Junior and Senior Engineers: 13;; hours or more;

Junior Medics: 14 hours or more;

Sophomore Medics: 15 hours or more

Question M. a. includes College, sducation, Engineering, Fine Arts, Pharmacy,
Business, Law, Medicine
b. includes Graduate students only.

Question 9.A record is kept in the Registrar's Office of all the students for
whom the University has requested deferment, Leave this question unanswered,

Do not answer questions R through V unless you are still unclassified or are
classified in Id. (If unclassified your answers to R, S, T, U, will probably be
"No."

Question V. The current school term ends 1-29-42.
