The thing that caused me to conceive the game of
Goal-Hi was watching the youngsters use the 6 by 8
backboards in the playgrounds and in back yards.
These backboards after a few years would decay and
become a real threat to the life and safety of the
children.

Then I observed that these little youngsters spent
most of their time shuttling back and forth from goal
to goal, wearing themselves out. Then I thought, Why
not have a goal adjustable to height - 8 ft, 9 ft, 10
ft. If we had a circular court that would provide the
ball handling and pivoting and passing and shooting
without all the shuttling back and forth. He would
develop all the skills to a high degree in this cir-
cular court.
