participate in intercollegiate athletics who: 1. Has been graduated from a four-year college course or its equivalent, or 2. Has sufficient credit and is eligible for graduation from the school or college in which he is enrolled. VII, OUTSIDE COMPETITION. 1. Representation on Non-collegiate Teams. A student shall be ineligible to represent his college in ath- letic contests who engages in such contests unat- tached or as a representative of any athletic organ- ization not connected with his college, whether in term time or vacation. Provided, however, that a student may be allowed to participate unattached or as a representative of an outside amateur athletic organization during the summer vacation, if he has secured permission from the faculty representative of the institution involved. 2. Interpretations. a. Playing on an alumni team against his own high school team in a game under the super- vision of the high school management shall not be considered a violation of this rule. b. Playing on any regularly organized team not connected with the college or taking part in any bout, match, tournament, or exhibition not directly under the control of the institution either in term time or during the short vacation shall be considered disqualifying competition. c. Playing in a golf or tennis tournament of a club of which an athlete is a member of one or more years’ standing, or of such an athlete’s home town or city club, shall not be disqualify- ing participation provided: ; (1) That such participation does not in any way represent the institution, (2) That such athlete is not at the time a member of any team or teams in any sport engaged upon a schedule of meets, games, or tournaments, and (3) That he shall have secured in writing.the 11
