Dear Dr. Allen:

I am sorry for the mistake in the wire
to you. It was a telephone message and the
mistake was outside of our office.

Louis Menze called me from Ames and
advised me to write to him and to wire you
confirming the date. I rather thought that
a letter to you would get the word to you
quickly enough but followed directions. If
this is contrary to regulations, please deduct
the price of the wire from my fee. :

I shall be in Lawrence in plenty of time
to start your game at 7:50 Tuesday January 10th.
